Dear RBN Members and Friends,

I want to congratulate our club on a very successful 2011. We started the year off with an entrepreneurial forum, and another presentation on business loans. Throughout the year, we heard from Sheriff Lamberti, nearly all of the candidates for the United States Senate, as well as candidates for Congress and other local offices. We also heard presentations from our local city commissioners.

Our annual Expo in April was the most well-attended to date, with over 200 attendees and nearly 40 businesses presenting. We received a special visit from Congressman (and member!) Allen West, who continues to fight for businesses in Washington, D.C. And finally our holiday party was again very well-attended, and gave us the chance to relax and celebrate our successful year.

We are looking forward to a similarly successful 2012. We will continue to hear from Republican candidates for office during this election year, and plan to support our members running for office through grassroots campaigning. Our April Expo will be at a new venue in order to accommodate the influx of new members and guests interested in the Republican Business Network. Finally, we will use 2012 to continue our mission of Connecting…Electing!

Thank you,

David Gobeo, President

The featured speaker at this months meeting is Mike McCalister, a retired U.S. Army Colonel, businessman, and university instructor. Colonel Mike McCalister (Retired) is currently running for the US Senate. ( www.mikemccalisterforsenate.com )

Colonel McCalister served honorably in the Army National Guard, Army Reserves, and on Active Duty for a total of 33 years between 1971 and 2005 (see “military record” for more information). He has worked with physicians at biotech and healthcare companies to improve efficiencies in the healthcare system, is a licensed agri-business professional, and owner of a small tree farm. He is also a university instructor, teaching practicing, professional students about today’s global economy and global business operations, strategy, and policy.

Colonel McCalister holds a B.S. in Agriculture from Southeast Missouri State University, Ph.D. in Management from the Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a graduate of The Command & General Staff College, the Army War College Defense Strategy Curriculum, and The Air War College; and he has completed the Harvard University Program on Senior Executive Leadership.

Colonel McCalister is an unapologetic conservative. His number one priority will be to get Floridians back to work by cutting spending, reducing the deficit, lowering taxes, and protecting our products and proprietary technologies and investments against unfair foreign competition. Colonel McCalister believes that Barack Obama and Bill Nelson are destroying our country with their reckless policies, and is frustrated that political insiders have done little to combat high unemployment, rising gas prices, and falling home prices.

Our Speaker This month is Marty Murray, Co-Organizer of the Broward County Florida Fair Tax Organization.

The FairTax plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax, a prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue neutrality, and, through companion legislation, the repeal of the 16th Amendment.

The FairTax Act (HR 25, S 13) is nonpartisan legislation. It abolishes all federal personal and corporate income taxes, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, and self-employment taxes and replaces them with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax administered primarily by existing state sales tax authorities.

The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend on new goods or services, not on what we earn. The FairTax is a fair, efficient, transparent, and intelligent solution to the frustration and inequity of our current tax system.

The FairTax:

Enables workers to keep their entire paychecks

Enables retirees to keep their entire pensions

Refunds in advance the tax on purchases of basic necessities

Allows American products to compete fairly

Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy

Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding

Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation

Abolishes the IRS

We offer a library of information throughout this Web site about the features and benefits of the FairTax plan. Please explore!
